Scenic Spots and Historical Sites
Yuhuan lies at the middle part of our eastern golden coast, opposite Wenzhou and Yandang Mountain. With rich sea tourist resources and strong fisherman folk culture, it can let you find unconventional modern buildings and varied folk arts and crafts in addition to beautiful seashore scenery and particular geological relief. With the building of “Land of China for Recreational Fishing” as the goal, Yuhuan accelerates the integration of tourist resources, intensifies the development of scenic areas and strengthens the management of the tourist industry as well as deepens the cooperation between the tourist areas, having remarkable results in tourist development. For the time being the eco-recreational tourist pattern based on island and ocean had been brought into being in Yuhuan. The resorts of island vacationing, agro-sightseeing and urban recreation centered on AAAA-grade Tourist Area and Xuanmen Bay Tourist Bay have been brought into being. Rock carvings, recreational fishing, coastal wetland and agro-sightseeing become the highlights of island recreational tourism. In Yuhuan existed 6 star hotels with more than 1500 beds, 19 travel agencies (including 3 travel agencies at above 3-star) and 1 passenger transport company. In 2011 it received totally 3.51 million tourists at home and abroad, 21% above that of last year (including 22317 person-times of overseas tourists), created 2.89 billion Yuan of total tourist revenue, 20% above that of last year.
Daludao Scenic Spot
As a AAAA-class scenic area of the state, Daludao Scenic Spot located in the southeast sea area of Yuhuan, is 6 sea miles to the mainland, with total area of 2 square kilometers. “Three Fantastic Works” on the island are the natural landscape, fantastic rocks and reefs, and rock carving. In the 1980s, Professor Hong Shiqing, from China College of Fine Arts, once completed nearly one hundred pieces of works with the style of Qin and Han Dynasties pegged on the marine animals. He becomes a pioneer of China for “Land Art”. In addition to rock carving, there are still many petroglyphs by Liu Haili, Sha Menghai, Qian Juntao and other famed artists on this island.
Xuanmen Bay Agro-sightseeing Park
As a AAAA-class scenic area of the state, Xuanmen Bay Agro-sightseeing Park is in the northwest of Yuhuan, bordering Wenling on the north and Yueqing Bay on the west, with the total area of nearly 10000 mu. Made up of three parts such as eco-agricultural sightseeing center, tourist sightseeing service area and agro-hi-tech demonstration area, it had successively undertaken such two construction projects as modern agriculture from the state and eco-agriculture from Zhejiang Committee of Planning. It has successively been conferred such titles as the demonstration base of national level in agro-science popularization and the demonstration spot of the country for agricultural tourism.
Xuanmen Bay National Wetland Park
Yuhuan Xuanmen National Wetland Park lies Yueqing Bay of Northwest Yuhuan and across 3 towns and 2 villages, with Chumen and Qinggang to the east. It is about 15km far from Yuhuan downtown and lies across the Yueqing Bay from Yandang Mountain. With the total planned area of 31.48 square meters including the water area of 7.06 square meters and the inland-wetland of 21.54 square kilometers, it, the first coastal wetland park of national level in Zhejiang, achieved success in applying for the qualification of being a wetland park of national level in 2011. In the Park there are 125 varieties of birds, 106 varieties of economic fish and 472 varieties of wild and cultivated plants including 15 kinds of plants listed into the “Catalogue of Wild Plants under Special National Protection” and 31 kinds of birds under the special provincial protection. It is one of the main habitats where the Saunder’s gulls, the rare birds of the world, live through the winter in China.
