Yuhuan stands at the middle part of the Gold Coast of the coast of Southeast Zhejiang. Being at the junction of 121° East Longitude and 28°North Latitude in the subtropical monsoon climate belt, it has the annual average temperature of 17.4°C, total annual rainfall of 859.5 mm and non-frost period about 365 days in 2011. As one of the 14 island counties in China, Yuhuan covers 2,279 square kilometers of total area including 378 square kilometers of land area, 1901 square kilometers of oceanic area and 329 kilometers of coastline. Yuhuan with the total population of 0.4225 million has under control 3 sub-districts (i.e. Yucheng Sub-district, Kanmen Sub-district and Damaiyu Sub-district), 5 towns (i.e. Chumen Town, Qinggang Town, Lupu Town, Ganjiang Town, Shamen Town) and 3 villages (i.e. Longxi Village, Jishan Village and Haishan Village). It is provided with 276 administrative villages and 29 community committees. Chumen Town was chosen as the pilot town of Zhejiang for small-city building and Shamen Town as the provincial-level central town of Zhejiang.
